1. General Rules

1. Bakersfield Kart Raceway (BKR) reserves the right to amend, modify, or update these rules at any time in the interest of safety, fairness, and competition.

2. Participation at BKR is a privilege, not a right.

3. All participants, crew members, family members, and guests must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner.

4. Any interpretation of these rules shall be determined solely by BKR officials.

5. The Race Director’s decisions are final.

6. BKR follows the spirit and intent of National Karting Alliance (NKA) and Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) regulations.

2. Driver Conduct

1. Aggressive driving, intentional contact, retaliation, blocking, or dangerous driving will not be tolerated.

2. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in:

   • Position penalties

   • Disqualification

   • Suspension

   • Expulsion from the facility

3. Drivers are expected to maintain control of their kart at all times.

4. Rough driving may result in black flag penalties at the discretion of race officials.

5. Verbal abuse, threats, or physical altercations involving drivers, crew members, parents, or spectators will result in immediate disciplinary action.

3. Safety Requirements

Communication Devices

Communication headsets and radio communication devices are permitted during practice sessions only.

The use of communication headsets, radios, earbuds, or any electronic communication device during qualifying, heats, pre-finals, or feature races is strictly prohibited.

Any driver caught using communication devices during race competition will be subject to immediate disqualification (DQ) from the event.

BKR officials reserve the right to inspect helmets and driver equipment at any time.

Driver Safety Equipment

All drivers must wear:

• Snell-approved helmet

• Full driving suit

• Gloves

• Racing shoes

• Neck collar or neck restraint

• Rib protector (strongly recommended)

• Chest protector for minor drivers

Kart Safety Requirements

All karts must have:

• Functional brakes

• Proper chain guard

• Secure bodywork

• Properly mounted fuel tank

• Operational throttle return spring

• Proper nerf bars and bumpers

BKR officials may inspect any kart at any time.

Unsafe karts will not be permitted on track.

4. Race Day Procedures

Registration

All drivers must:

• Complete registration

• Sign required waivers

• Pay entry fees prior to competition

Driver’s Meeting

Attendance at the driver’s meeting is mandatory.

Failure to attend may result in:

• Starting from rear

• Loss of practice sessions

• Additional penalties

Hot Laps

Drivers must enter and exit the track safely during practice sessions.

No aggressive driving during hot laps.

Grid Procedures

Drivers must report to grid on time.

Late arrivals may be required to start from the rear.

5. Championship Series Rules

1. Drivers must compete in 7 of 10 races to be eligible for Championship awards.

2. No “throw away” races will be used.

3. Any class with 3 or more karts is eligible for Championship awards.

4. Championship points are awarded based on final feature race results.

5. Drivers disqualified from an event will receive zero points.

6. Ties in championship points will be determined by:

   • Most feature wins

   • Most podium finishes

   • Highest finish in final event

6. Technical Rules

General Technical Rules

1. All karts must comply with current NKA and/or SKUSA technical standards applicable to their class.

2. BKR reserves the right to inspect:

   • Engines

   • Carburetors

   • Fuel

   • Tires

   • Weight

   • Chassis

3. Refusal to submit to inspection will result in disqualification.

4. Illegal modifications may result in:

   • Disqualification

   • Suspension

   • Loss of championship points

Fuel

Only approved fuel types may be used.

No fuel additives unless specifically permitted.

Tires

Specified tire compounds may be required for certain divisions.

Tire soaking or chemical treatment is prohibited.

Weight Rules

All classes must meet minimum weight requirements.

Tag 125 SR minimum weight:

• 360 lbs (per SKUSA)

Weights are measured post-race.

Drivers failing minimum weight requirements are subject to disqualification.

7. Class Structure

Current BKR Classes

• Kid Kart

• Tag Mini

• Jr 1 – 2 Cycle

• Jr 1 – Briggs LO206

• Jr Sportsman

• Jr Super Sportsman

• Tag 100 SR

• Tag 125 SR

BKR reserves the right to combine or separate classes based on participation.

Tag 100 SR and Tag 125 SR may run separately depending on kart count.

8. Flags & Race Control

Green Flag

Track is clear. Racing conditions active.

Yellow Flag

Caution.

Red Flag

Race stopped immediately.

Black Flag

Driver must report to pit lane.

White Flag

One lap remaining.

Checkered Flag

Race complete.

Failure to obey flags may result in penalties.

9. Penalties & Infractions

Penalties may include:

• Warning

• Position loss

• Time penalty

• Black flag

• Disqualification

• Suspension

Infractions include:

• Jumping starts

• Rough driving

• Ignoring flags

• Technical violations

• Unsportsmanlike conduct

10. Protest Procedures

1. Protests must be submitted in writing.

2. Protest fees may apply.

3. Protests must be filed within 30 minutes of race completion.

4. Technical inspections resulting from protests will be overseen by BKR officials.

5. Officials’ rulings are final.

11. Pit & Paddock Rules

1. No reckless driving in pit areas.

2. Pit vehicles must operate safely.

3. Children must be supervised at all times.

4. No alcohol consumption by participants during race activities.

5. Open flames are prohibited near fuel areas.

6. Dispose of fuel and oil properly.

7. Keep pit areas clean.

12. Minor Drivers & Parents

1. Parents and guardians are responsible for the conduct of minor drivers.

2. Parents entering restricted race control areas without permission may face penalties against the driver.

3. Unsportsmanlike conduct from parents may result in driver disqualification.

13. Weather & Track Conditions

1. BKR officials may delay, shorten, or cancel events due to weather or unsafe conditions.

2. Drivers are responsible for preparing equipment for changing track conditions.

3. No refunds will be issued once official practice begins unless determined by BKR management.

14. Points System

Feature race points:

1st — 200

2nd — 175

3rd — 155

4th — 140

5th — 130

Additional positions may be adjusted by BKR management.

DNS and DQ entries may receive zero points.

15. Track Officials Authority

Track officials maintain authority over:

• Race procedures

• Technical inspection

• Safety enforcement

• Conduct violations

• Final scoring

Officials may remove any participant deemed unsafe or disruptive.

16. Disclaimer & Liability

Kart racing is an inherently dangerous activity.

By participating at Bakersfield Kart Raceway, all participants acknowledge and accept the risks associated with motorsports competition.

Participants agree to comply with all BKR rules, procedures, and official decisions.
